The NSW Department of Planning is assessing an application for a proposed modification to the Narrabri Coal Seam Gas Utilisation Project, which is also proposed under the Energy NSW CSG Exploration and Appraisal Program (Santos, 2013). The Narrabri CSG Utilisation Project is located within PAL 2 and at the Wilga Park Power Station in the Narrabri region, both operated by Santos. Modification 1 (MP 07_0023 MOD 1) to the Narrabri CSG Utilisation Project was approved in February 2011 and Modification 2 (MP 07_0023 MOD 2) in March 2012. Under Modification 3 (MP 07_0023 MOD 3), Santos proposes to install a riser on the existing 32 km buried gas flow line that would allow gas and liquids to be diverted to the Leewood Produced Water Facility. The gas flow line could be used to transfer liquids (including fresh water, produced water and brine) between the Tintsfield ponds and the Bibblewindi Water Transfer Facility and to the Leewood Produced Water Facility. It would also allow CSG from existing or future wells to be used within PAL 2 or PPL 3 at the Wilga Park Power Station (Santos, 2013).
